      <head>Scope and Contents of the Collection</head>
       <p>The Suffragist Oral History Project was undertaken by the Bancroft Library, University of California at Berkeley from 1959 to 1977.  Its purpose was to record for posterity the life stories of women who experienced directly the struggle for women's rights and equality in the 20th century. The collection consists of transcripts of the following interviews:</p>
