    <head>Biographical Note</head>
       <p>Frieda Savitz was born in New York City on December 3,  1931.   She earned both
her B.A. and M.A. from New York University and later studied at the University of Wisconsin,
Cooper Union, and Columbia University.   She has exhibited at the Smithsonian Instititute,
the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Chrysler Museum in Provincetown, MA,
and the Brooklyn Museum.  She has held one person shows and taught composition, painting,
and drawing.</p>
