Material related to the Women's Studies Program at Smith College. Historical Note

The Women's Studies Program at Smith College began as an Interdepartmental Minor in Women's Studies in the 1984-1985 academic year. Women's Studies was offered as an Interdepartmental Major as well as a Minor by the 1987-1988 academic year.

Scope and Contents of the Collection

The Women's Studies Program records contain materials describing the history of the program as well as its publications and programs. Types of materials include magazine and newspaper articles, department newsletters, brochures, and publications, as well as material concerning the Junior Year in Women's Studies, and the Meridians journal.

The records are open for research according to the regulations of the Smith College Archives without any additional restrictions.
