Biographical Information

William T. Henderson was born December 1899 to Charles F. and Mary Henderson. He attended Seton Hall Preparatory School and graduated in 1920 from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

William T. Henderson married Marie Josephine O'Keefe on June 18, 1927 in South Orange, New Jersey. They had two children, William Thomas, Jr. and Marie J. Henderson Magnier.

Mr. Henderson worked as a member of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) firm Charles F. Henderson and Sons. As of 1970, the Henderson family had the longest continuous family membership on the NYSE floor, which began in 1861 with his grandfather, William T. Henderson.

Mr. Henderson was involved in numerous activities and organizations in the New York City area and was a generous supporter of Seton Hall University. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Mercier Club, Serra International, the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. In recognition of his involvement with Seton Hall University, he received an honorary degree in 1956 for his memorial gifts and scholarships to benefit students of the school. His generosity also extended to the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey. Several scholarships and donations were given to the school, and he served as an advisor to the president of the college for financial services. On January 7, 1960, Mr. Henderson received papal honors from the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey. Mr. Henderson died in August 1968.

Marie O'Keefe was the daughter of Eugene and Rose Evelyn McCabe O'Keefe. She graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey in 1920. In 1959, she received an honorary law degree from the school.

Mrs. Marie Henderson was also a significant figure in the South Orange community. She was involved with the Bayley Seton League (where she served as president), Orange Women's Club, Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, and the à Kempis Club of New Jersey. She died in 1992.
