Maryhill College was established on the campus of St. Edward's University as part of a coordinate educational program in 1966. The Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary were the administrators of the women's college and made up at least 50% of the faculty. Additional classes were taught by lay faculty and staff, priests and brothers. A distinctive curriculum for women was planned and separate classes for freshman and sophomore female students were maintained. A team of five I.H.M.Sisters initiated the college. They were Sisters Ann Virginia Bowling, Mary Mercy Geohegan, Mary Kevin Kenny, Grace Olfs and Marie Andre Walsh. The Director of the College was Sister Ann Virginia Bowling, I.H.M. In 1970 Maryhill College became part of a co-educational St. Edward's University.
