            <head>History of the Song of Solomon booklets in English dialects</head>
            <p>Philologist and politician Louis-Lucien Bonaparte commissioned the Song of Solomon (also known as the Song of Songs) translations in the late 1850s. He had the book translated into 23 provincial English dialects by various authors.</p>
            <p>Louis-Lucien employed London based printer, George Barclay (later succeeded by Strangeways and Walden) to publish the booklets.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>This collection contains 25 4" x 6" booklets of The Song of Solomon (also known as Song of Songs), translated into provincial English dialects. Each booklet lists the type of dialect, translator, and in most cases, the date.</p>
            <p>The booklets are one set out of a total of 250 printed in London by George Barclay between 1859 and 1862.</p>
