<bioghist altrender="biography" encodinganalog="545" id="a2">
	<head>Biographical Note</head>
	<p>Gilbert Acker Hitz was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended The Catholic University of America from 1922 to 1926 as a philosophy student. While at CUA, he was involved in the Utopian Club (Vice-President senior year), The International Relations Club, The CUA University Branch of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (A.S.M.E), the "C" Club, the CUA chapter of the Knights of Columbus, The Tower student newspaper (junior year), the Cardinal student yearbook, track (junior and senior years), and was a cheerleader (sophomore through senior years).</p>
<p>Upon graduation from CUA, he moved back to Cleveland, OH and lived there until his death.</p>
